Creepshow became a cult horror anthology movie directed by George Romero and now the streaming channel Shudder has made 3 seasons of the TV series Creepshow and all are now available on Blu-Ray.
What’s great about the series is that each episode has two stories which can be dipped into at any time. Also, it’s good to see the use of practical special effects and not relying on CGI which in my opinion can spoil a lot of horror movies these days.
There are also some great actors in the series such as Adrienne Barbeau, Bruce Davison, Kiefer Sutherland, Justin Long, Ali Larter, James Remar, Giancarlo Esposito, Michael Rooker, Jeffrey Combs, Molly Ringwald and Keith David, to name just a few.
Of course, being a series of this nature you will get some great ones and some clunkers but all are worth watching and gore fans will certainly get their money’s worth.
Alongside each of the episodes, the new Blu-ray releases come with extras that fans of the series should check out. Season one comes with audio commentaries featuring cast and crew, season two has both the Animated Special and Holiday Special included, along with behind-the-scenes featurettes, and season three includes raw footage and the full-length footage of Amazon’s Comic-Con with cast and crew.
Fans will also notice references to other classic horror movies such as The Evil Dead and The Howling.
Great fun and well worth viewing if you are a horror fan the Blu-ray, as expected, comes with impressive 1080p transfers and a good 5.1 surround sound mix. Series 4 is due to air on the channel soon.
