Sisu was the unexpected smash hit action film of 2022, and fans waited a while for a sequel, but now we have Sisu – Road to Revenge and the carnage continues!

A war survivor returns to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the war. He dismantles it, loads it on a truck, and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honour. When the Red Army commander who killed his family comes back hellbent on finishing the job, a relentless, eye-popping cross-country chase ensues.

Be ready for non-stop action with over-the-top gore in a film, while not as original as the first instalment, gives fans what they want and unbelievably tops the first film with its outrageous set pieces.

The villain this time is played by Stephen Lang, a Russian commander responsible for the death of the hero’s family, and the actor almost steals the film.

There are plenty of moments of dark comedy, where you should not laugh but can’t help it as the hero stops at nothing to finish his task. The rugged and war-torn hero, played by Jorma Tommila, does not utter a word during the whole film, but does not really need to and, as they say actions speak louder than words.

Every kill in the film seems impeccably designed and is pulled off with style and panache, even if at times it goes a little too far, it’s almost like a gory live-action Looney Tunes cartoon!

The film gets more and more outrageous as it goes on but its 88 minute runtime does not outstay its welcome.

Will there be a sequel? Maybe, but if they leave it here, they have produced two gloriously gory movies that are not only entertaining when taken in the right frame of mind but also totally rewatchable.
