You can read my review of season 1 here…..
Lt. Joe Leaphorn reunites with Jim Chee, his former deputy turned private eye, when their separate cases lead them to pursue the same suspect.
They find themselves in the high desert of Navajo Country chasing a killer who’s turned his sights on them to protect a secret that rips open old wounds and challenges Leaphorn’s moral and professional code. Together, the two men battle the forces of evil and their demons on the path to salvation.

This season has the same great acting and direction, and the pace is a bit more frantic this time.
The involvement of executive producers like George R. R. Martin and Robert Redford underscores the high-quality storytelling and production values.
The six-part series continues to showcase Indigenous talent both on and off screen, with powerful storylines delving deeper into the issues affecting Native Americans in the 1970s, such as the Vietnam War, white appropriation of Navajo rituals and the important exploration of the forced sterilisation of Native American women.
You also have a great main villain, this time played with intensity by Nicholas Logan. He almost seems indestructible as he escapes police capture numerous times. Violence is shown, short but intense and helps the drama move along swiftly.

It builds to a satisfying conclusion as the sheriff connects the dots to his son’s death a few years earlier.
Another good Blu-ray release from AMC with a solid transfer with fine detail and colour. Sound is good with a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio mix. Extras are non-existent which is a great shame. It has been confirmed that there will be a season 3.
SERIES 8 – PICTURE – 8 AUDIO – 7.5 EXTRAS – 0
