The Professionals MK II – Review

professionals series 2 blu ray review

Network continue to release classic TV series to Blu ray with  The Professionals MK II  featuring all 13 episodes in broadcast order.

The second season now had the characters well established and the chemistry between the three lead actors now at its peak. Sure its dated somewhat but that’s part of its charm. Bodie and Doyle are just as sexist as the first season and Cowley is even more gruff and outspoken than he was before. Most of the episodes are still very watchable and the quality throughout season two was for the most part, very high.

The production for this season was subsequently moved to a set of studios in Wembley instead of Pinewood, giving more access to old London town and giving the producers more of the grittier urban look. This now has the familiar opening credits which start with the car smashing through the window, the music as ever fitted the show very well and if you have already purchased season 1 then this is also a must buy.

Extras are a bit more limited on this box and include:

  • Brand-new, High Definition restorations of all 13 episodes in series two from the camera-original negatives
Brand-new 5.1 tracks from original sound elements
    Remastered original as-broadcast mono tracks
Remastered music-only tracks featuring Laurie Johnson’s original scores
HD photo galleries featuring hundreds of rare and previously unseen images
Exclusive book of programme notes authored by TV historian Andrew Pixley, which documents the complete production history for the 13 episodes in series two
All episodes are presented in their original production order

PDF material featuring scripts and memorabilia
Archive footage featuring additional material, advert break bumpers, US sales trailer and more.

Picture quality is again outstanding for a 70’s TV show with all episodes remastered to a very high standard. Recommended.
